Call to Action: Public Financing of Elections in 2009!
New York State’s Senate and Assembly leaders have committed to moving a bill that would implement a voluntary system of public financing of elections for New York State during the 2009 legislative session. We’ve got until June to make sure it happens!
Public financing of elections…
- Lessens the influence big real estate and landlord’s campaign cash from having their way in Albany and stopping common sense tenant rights legislation from passing!
- Lessens the influence of polluters and developers who give campaign donations and block environmental protections in New York.
- Allows our elected officials to stop the money chase and be accountable to only the voters and the public when making decisions that affect our communities.
- Allows more and different people to run for office, including more women and people of color.
So, what are you waiting for? Click here to join us in the fight for public financing of elections right now!
